Welcome to the SHIPMAX Blog

Why we're writing about fulfilment, 3PL selection and the parts of UK logistics nobody explains properly, and what you'll actually find here.

The SHIPMAX brand mark introducing the SHIPMAX blog

Why we’re doing this

Most fulfilment content online is written by people who’ve never actually read a 3PL rate card line by line, let alone negotiated one.

We have. Repeatedly. That’s the job.

SHIPMAX exists to match e-commerce brands with the right UK 3PL partner, for free, and to give good 3PLs a better way to reach the brands actually looking for them. Along the way we end up seeing what most people in this industry never do: real rate cards, real contracts, real reasons a fulfilment relationship goes wrong, and real reasons one goes right.

This blog is where that knowledge goes when it isn’t sitting inside a single brand’s brief.

What you’ll actually find here

Not listicles. Not “10 tips for choosing a 3PL” written by someone who’s never chosen one.

Expect posts on the mechanics that genuinely decide whether a fulfilment relationship works: how AI and automation are (and aren’t) actually changing warehouse operations, what really separates a good 3PL from a bad one, how bonded warehousing and compliance work in practice, what running Amazon FBA replenishment well looks like, how to handle returns without them quietly eating your margin, what expanding fulfilment into Europe genuinely involves, and where fulfilment costs actually hide on an invoice.

Some posts will be founder-voice pieces from Phil Rees on what twenty-odd years in this industry actually teaches you. Some will be sharper commentary on where UK logistics is heading. All of it is written to be useful whether or not you ever work with SHIPMAX.

We built the Lead Exchange around one principle: three curated matches, not fifty. This blog runs on the same one. Fewer, better answers, not a wall of content for its own sake.

One rule for this blog

If a post doesn’t teach you something you can actually use, we haven’t done our job. That’s the bar, every time.

Welcome. Glad you’re here.
